Comparison of Paint Quality on Snow Removal Equipment: MAMMUT vs Competitors
When it comes to snow removal equipment, paint quality is a crucial factor in ensuring durability and resistance to the harshest winter conditions. Today, we compare two parts manufactured by different companies: one designed by MAMMUT and the other by a well-known snowplow manufacturer. The MAMMUT part features a two-step painting process: a base coat followed by a powder coat baked in an oven, with sandblasting performed beforehand. The second part, however, is made by a competitor without equivalent preparation.
Resistance Test: MAMMUT vs Competitors
We conducted a simple test on both parts, lightly rubbing them with a buffer to observe the paint's resistance.

Competitorâs Result
Letâs first examine the competitorâs part: after just two light strokes, the paint completely peeled off, exposing the underlying steel. This indicates limited surface protection, demonstrating that the paint quality is insufficient to withstand the rigors of snow removal operations.

MAMMUTâs Result
Now, letâs move to the part manufactured by MAMMUT. After performing the same test, the base paint remained intact. Only at the primer level was there a slight impact, proving significantly better resistance and superior durability. The sandblasting preparation before paint application, combined with the use of a baked powder coat, ensures optimal adhesion and protection.
Preparation: A Crucial Element of Paint Quality
To further investigate, we also tested the paint quality on two tractors from different manufacturers, each equipped with snowblowers and snowplows.
Tractor from the First Manufacturer
The first manufacturer seemingly did not apply adequate preparation before painting the part. It appears the part was merely washed before painting, explaining why the paint is peeling in several areas, even without significant signs of mechanical wear.
Tractor from the Second Manufacturer
In contrast, the second manufacturer sandblasted the part before applying the paint. Two years later, apart from minor signs of wear in high-friction areas, the paint remains in excellent condition, including on internal components such as the snowblower rollers.
Why Choose High-Quality Paint for Your Snow Removal Equipment?
As a snow removal equipment owner, itâs clear that you want your plows and blowers to maintain their new appearance for as long as possible. Equipment that stays in good condition for five years is a source of satisfaction. Conversely, seeing your equipment begin to rust after just two or three years can be a significant frustration.
This test clearly highlights the importance of careful preparation before applying paint. At MAMMUT, we are committed to offering durable products coated with high-quality powder paint that withstands the harshest conditions. The combination of sandblasting before painting and applying a baked coating ensures superior adhesion and better protection against corrosion and wear.
Conclusion: Paint Quality as a Guarantee of Durability
At MAMMUT, every step of the finishing process for our snow removal equipment is designed to ensure durable and resistant paint quality. We understand that paint is not just about aestheticsâit is critical for protecting your equipment and extending its lifespan against the harsh realities of Canadian winters. By choosing MAMMUT, youâre opting for equipment that resists wear, impacts, and extreme conditions.
